Knaresborough Zoo was a zoo located in the grounds of Conyngham Hall. Zoo's were a part of our history before we properly understood the importance of animal welfare. They were many keepers who cared dearly for their animals but despite this zoo's were clearly not suitable for many beautiful wild creatures who deserve a better life in their native setting. Knaresborough Zoo while being popular eventually closed manly due to concerns for the welfare of the animals and lack of funds to modernise the enclosures.
